Cunning Plan

The cold blast of America's economic downturn has blown into McDonald's. The world's biggest fast food chain surprised Wall Street yesterday with a warning that consumers were cutting back on Big Macs and fries.

But not to worry, Gordon Browns has come up with a rescue plan.

Companies such as McDonald's will be able to offer their own qualifications under a shake-up of welfare and training announced by the government

In some cases the qualifications, will be equivalent to "A" level examinations. McDonalds has begun piloting "basic shift manager" courses, in order to keep it off the rocks.

Labour Government acting like Nazi's

"This motion is misguided and is an abuse of the House. I would normally hesitate to say this, but to my mind this sort of tactic would not have been untypical of Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union. Such a tactic is shameful and an abuse of the House".

"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves". (Winston Churchill)

The New Jews of Europe

Gordon Brown the sub-prime minister writes a piece in today’s Telegraph entitled we We must not forget the Holocaust . He writes

"As a boy, I was well aware of the struggle and sacrifices of the Jewish people. My father, a Church of Scotland minister, led parties of visitors to Israel twice a year for more than 20 years and wanted me to understand what the Holocaust meant. I discovered how, as so much of the world stood by and did nothing, incredibly brave men and women who were not Jews were moved to take incredible risks to help people they had never met escape from the Nazi slaughter".

and goes on

“And as we reflect again on these events, we must react to them too, to ensure that "Never Again" is not just a slogan, but a reality”.

Yes, Mr Brown "Never Again" perhaps you should now reflect on how the perpetrators of the holocaust came to power. Reflect, on the word Ermächtigungsgesetz

Read about Hans-Gert Pöttering and Jo Leinen and the Despotism in the European union parliament .

And you want to give these people more power.

The Lisbon Treaty is an enabling act Mr Brown and Euro-sceptics are the new Jews of Europe

Reflect Mr Brown, your farther will be turning in his grave.

Arresting Fun

Gordon Brown's new year fightback has stalled, as the Metropolitan Police begin a second investigation into Labour Party funding. The Prime Minister now faces the prospect of two searching inquiries by Scotland Yard.

Peter Hain bowed to the inevitable yesterday by resigning, when the Electoral Commission referred to the Metropolitan Police his failure to register £103,000 of donations.

The police are already looking into £600,000 of secret donations to Labour by the property developer David Abrahams. That follows the 13-month police inquiry into "cash for honours" which cast a shadow over the Blair government.

The Labour Party problems over "dodgy donations" could get worse. The commission is looking into £5,000 donation made to Harriet Harman, the House of Commons leader, and £950 donation made to Wendy Alexander, Labour Party leader in Scotland.

In the mean time read about other "dodgy donations" HERE

Peter Hain has resigned, BUT

Peter Hain has resigned as Work and Pensions Secretary and Secretary of State for Wales, we are told that, Hain telephoned Gordon Brown after being informed by the Electoral Commission that they were referring the case, involving £103,000, to the Metropolitan Police. It is understood Mr Hain offered his resignation at that point "without hesitation" and it was swiftly accepted by Brown.

BUT was he pushed? and will we see the knock on effect. Harriet Harman and wee Wendy Alexander must be preying that it is not so.

sub-prime minister

In a bitter exchange at Prime Ministers Questions yesterday, David Cameron accused Gordon Brown of doing a "dodgy deal" over Northern Rock that was worthy of TV's 'Del Boy'. Cameron likened Brown to a used car salesman in his handling of the Northern Rock crisis

"He is like a used car salesman: won't tell you the price, won't tell you the mileage. He's gone from Prudence to Del Boy without even touching the ground."

David Cameron further branded the government's position as a "sub-prime deal from a sub-prime minister".

Lies, lies and damned lies

I have just sent the following letter to Jim Murphy (minister for the European Union)

Dear Mr Murphy,

I have just listened to you on BBC radio 4 and yet again you quote the UK governments mantra in relation to the EU (constitution, reform, Lisbon) treaty

"The constitutional concept, which consisted in repealing all existing Treaties and replacing them by a single text called "Constitution", is abandoned".

I have reproduced the full quote from the June 2007 Summit below:

1. The IGC is asked to draw up a Treaty (hereinafter called "Reform Treaty") amending the existing Treaties with a view to enhancing the efficiency and democratic legitimacy of the enlarged Union, as well as the coherence of its external action. The constitutional concept, which consisted in repealing all existing Treaties and replacing them by a single text called "Constitution", is abandoned. The Reform Treaty will introduce into the existing Treaties, which remain in force, the innovations resulting from the 2004 IGC, as set out below in a detailed fashion.

Now come on Mr Murphy, you are quoted in the press as saying that, we should have a rational debate. We are all bright enough to extract from the June summit text, that the outcome is that the innovations resulting from the 2004 IGC is the EU CONSTITUTION.

Instead of one single document incorporating all the text of the other treaties, it is now a text which keeps the other treaties but binds them all together.

i.e. the concept of the (constitution, reform, Lisbon) treaty is to pull the wool over our eyes and for you, as a minister of state to part quote is mendacious and misleading.

If you are genuinely confused with regards to the meaning, may I direct you to the provisions of section 3 of the Vienna Convention on the law of treaties

Article 31 General rule of interpretation

1. A treaty shall be interpreted in good faith in accordance with the ordinary meaning to be given to the terms of the treaty in their context and in the light of its object and purpose.

Article 32 Supplementary means of interpretation

Recourse may be had to supplementary means of interpretation, including the preparatory work of the treaty and the circumstances of its conclusion, in order to confirm the meaning resulting from the application of article 31, or to determine the meaning when the interpretation according to article 31:

(a) leaves the meaning ambiguous or obscure; or

(b) leads to a result which is manifestly absurd or unreasonable

If the vast majority of EU leaders tell us that the EU Reform Treaty is 90 to 99% the (abandoned constitution), then obviously you and your department need to call upon the provisions of the above articles.

You now argue that while the EU reform treaty is indeed the same for other member states, it is different for the UK because of its various opt-outs and safeguards. (red lines)

But these red lines you are basing this argument on were also in the original version of the constitution - on which the government promised to hold a referendum.

In fact, the Labour party recognised this in The Labour Party manifesto 2005 (page 83 & 84)

"The EU now has 25 members and will continue to expand. The new Constitutional Treaty ensures the new Europe can work effectively, and that Britain keeps control of key national interests like foreign policy, taxation, social security and defence. The Treaty sets out what the EU can do and what it cannot".

The 2005 manifesto also states at Page 110

"A referendum remains the right way to agree any change for Westminster".

You also need to read Article 9 of the reform treaty, reflect, and remind yourself of your oath as a Privy councillor. A man cannot serve two masters.

Yours disrespectfully

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

“The most brilliant propagandist technique will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly - it must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over”

More to come, but is it a wise move

Gordon Brown has said the government has begun fresh talks with potential buyers of Northern Rock, amid reports that the government would convert £25 billion of loans to the bank of England into bonds to facilitate its sale.

For example, the yields on UK government bonds (gilts) have fallen to their lowest level in half a century. A similar trend is apparent in America.

It's a no go sunshine.

Political donations

Gordon Brown the prime minister has said, Work and Pensions Secretary Peter Hain was guilty of "an incompetence" over donations during Labour's deputy leader race. BBC News

Legal Definition of an incompetence

The inability, as determined by a court, to handle one's own personal or financial affairs. A court may declare that a person is incompetent after a hearing at which the person is present and/or represented by a legal representative. A finding of incompetence may lead to the appointment of a conservator to manage the person's affairs. Also known as "incompetency."

New Metric Martyr in Hackney

Metric Martyrs Press Release: Immediate

New Metric Martyr in Hackney

Hackney Court Case could help overturn Metric Martyr Steve Thoburn's conviction as European Commission's Vice President's statement indicates that the Metric Martyr was 'wrongly convicted'

In a remarkable and dramatic twist to the whole metrication drama a statement on behalf of the Vice President of the European Commission, Gunther Verheugen, throws doubt not only on the conviction of Sunderland greengrocer Steve Thoburn but also on the pending case of 63 year old East End market trader, Janet Devers.

Mrs. Devers faces a number of charges relating to alleged metrication offences relating to selling by the bowl, but two of the charges mirror Steven's, namely using imperial only scales which did not bear an official stamp. The stamp had been removed by a Trading Standards Officer on a previous visit. The scales were subsequently seized when Trading Standards Officers were accompanied by the Police. Photographs and report here

All this occurred after the recent banner headlines which gave the impression to traders and public alike that the Metric Martyrs had indeed been victorious and the pound and the pint had been saved.

The case of Hackney v Janet Devers is listed before Thames Magistrates on 18th January 2008 at 2pm.

However, in the period between being made aware of this and the case being listed for trial, we received a letter from a Metric Martyrs and British Weights and Measures Association supporter, which detailed a response he had received from the Reinhard Klein of the European Commission's Enterprise and Industry Directorate-General on behalf of the Vice President of the Commission, Gunther Verheugen. He had sought clarification from the Commission in light of the headlines in which Verheugen stated that the Metrication Regulations were never intended to apply to market traders.

In the letter of response (shown in full here) Reinhard Klein states:

" The Commission does not consider it necessary to change the current provisions on the use of pre-2000 weighing instruments in imperial only because the Directive does not prohibit the use of such instruments."

This clarification that 'equipment' also includes pre-2000 weighing instruments quite obviously changes everything.

Therefore, both Steven Thoburn and Janet Devers were using scales which were expressly authorised by the Directive.

The removal of the certification stamps by the Local Authority's Trading Standards Officers 'because they were not capable of weighing in metric,' is an action which could be seen as an abuse of process.

The subsequent prosecutions under the 1985 Weights and Measures Act 11(2) for having / using scales 'which did not bear an official stamp' it will be argued were therefore unlawful as the stamps had been removed unlawfully.
Metric Martyrs Campaign's Neil Herron states: "This obvious conflict, now clarified by the Vice President of the European Commission between the Directive and its application or interpretation throws absolute doubt on the conviction of Steve Thoburn who only faced the charges after his legal scales had been 'de-stamped.' We anticipate in light of this to get the Metric Martyrs case before the Criminal Cases Review Commission and back to the Court of Appeal. The fact that Hackney are pursuing the case against Janet Devers, the sister of Colin Hunt, one of the original five Metric Martyrs smacks of a personal and vexatious action by Council officials. Indeed Trading Standards officials have already handed out misleading and inappropriate leaflets around Ridley Road market which are the subject of an ongoing complaint."

The timing of the new Metric Martyr prosecution could not be better as on Thursday 17th January at 1pm in Westminster Neil Herron hands over the 16,000 strong petition calling for a Royal Pardon to Sunderland MP Chris Mullin to present to Parliament. Chris has also agreed to assist the campaign in bringing the matter before the Criminal Cases Review Commission a body set up after he exposed another miscarriage of justice in the case of the Birmingham Six.

Supporters are welcome to attend the Court on Friday.

NO IFS, NO BUTS

The Minister of State for the Department of Works and Pensions Peter Hain has been criticised by the new head of standards watchdog over his failure to declare donations to his campaign for the Labour deputy leadership.

The incoming chairman of the committee on standards in public life, Sir Christopher Kelly, said he was worried that someone like Hain did not appreciate the importance of making a full disclosure to the Electoral Commission.

Hain has failed to declare donations said to be worth around £100,000. He has blamed the problem on "administrative failings" in his campaign.

FOUR HUNDRED AND FIFTY TWO

From 22nd September 2007 to 8th January 2008 the EU has passed 452 laws which will impact on the UK.

That is FOUR HUNDRED AND FIFTY TWO!

Since the start of May 2007 the total is 1,114.

Each time the anti-democratic EU legislative process passes a law, a new cost is added onto British businesses. As members of the European Union there is nothing that our own democratic process can do to overturn those decisions.

Make it a Happy New Year

Campaign for a Referendum on the European Constitution

Click on the link above for your post cards or alternatively cut and past and send the letter below

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II,
Buckingham Palace
LONDON SW1A 1AA

Your Majesty,

I appeal to you to defend and uphold the British Constitution, as you promised us in your Coronation Oath. I urge you to refuse your Royal Assent to any Bill to enact the E.U. Reform Treaty, unless we, the British people, have first been allowed to have our say in a fair referendum. You promised to govern us according to our laws and customs. The Bill of Rights 1689 states that we should never be ruled by ‘foreign powers’.

In 2004, after large numbers of Britons petitioned both you and your government, Tony Blair promised us a referendum on the European Constitution. As nearly all European and British leaders agree, the E.U. Reform Treaty is a virtual carbon copy of the European Constitution, with around 99% of its wording the same as four years ago.

This Treaty will bring in a European government. Britain would be forced to accept a European foreign and defence policy, including an E.U. army and paramiltary units with the right to operate on our soil. Precious rights such as the presumption of innocence and trial by jury will no longer be guaranteed. Under the Treaty, the E.U. will have power to further remove what independence we have left, without our consent. You may by convention have to follow government advice when giving Royal Assent, but, equally, the government must not give you unconstitutional advice.
