Kosovo's parliament meets this afternoon to officially declare the province's independence from Serbia, a move opposed by Serbia and Russia but supported by many western governments.

Russia - a permanent member of the UN Security Council and traditional ally of Serbia - has "a ready-made plan and we know what we are going to do".
